PADI Diving Courses taught by Honu Sports
Introductory Scuba Dives a.k.a. Discover Scuba Diving or Resort Courses - Try scuba diving with a private lesson with one of our diving instructors. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY, just a desire to have lots of fun in a safe ocean environment. This half-day morning course takes place on our boat and includes all gear and instruction by a PADI scuba diving instructor. Course includes all snorkel and dive gear as well as drinks and snacks. Student will learn the basics of scuba diving and will complete two ocean dives in two different locations. Minimum age to participate is 10 years old. Course fee: $225 plus tax per person. Reservations required.
Open Water Certification a.k.a Certified Diver - This is the basic scuba diving course which lays the ground work for all future advanced scuba diving courses and specialty training. This course requires completion of the PADI Open Water Diver Manual, approximately 3 hours of pool training, approximately 4 hours of lecture and two mornings diving from our boat. Therefore, the total time required for this course is approximately four "half-day" blocks of time. Course fee: $750 (private lesson) or $700 per person for groups of two or more, plus tax. Minimum age to participate is 10 years old. Course fee includes drinks, snacks, all snorkel gear, wetsuit, dive gear, pool fees, books, certification card and 4 boat dives. Reservations required.
Open Water Referral a.k.a. Checkout Dives - For PADI students who have completed their book work and pool training, our PADI scuba diving instructors will conduct your 4 open water training dives from our boat. If your initial training was with NAUI, SSI, YMCA or another training agency, please contact us first before signing up for this training. Otherwise, please bring your referral paperwork with you when you meet with our staff the first time. Training fee: $450, or $400 per person for groups of two or more, plus tax. Training fee includes drinks, snacks, all snorkel gear, wetsuit, dive gear, certification card and 4 boat dives. Reservations required. Time required for this training is 2 days.
Advanced Open Water Certification a.k.a. Advanced Diver - Course requires Open Water Certification from PADI or equivalent certification from another agency such as NAUI, SSI, YMCA etc. Basic course requirements are 5 training dives with Deep Diving and Underwater Navigation being 2 of the required 5 training dives. The remaining 3 training dives are chosen according to the student's interests. By far, this is one of our most popular scuba diving courses. Course fee: $598, or $550 per person for groups of two or more, plus tax. Course fee includes drinks, snacks, all snorkel gear, wetsuit, dive gear, advanced diving manual, certification card and 5 boat dives. Time required for this course is 2-3 days.
